Keeler | June 5, 2020 Message
Good Afternoon Keeler Families,
With the on going circumstances around COVID-19, the Calgary Board of Education has decided to release student report cards online through the MyCBE PowerSchool account. Paper copies will no longer be provided to families.
We are reaching out to ensure that our families have created a MyCBE PowerSchool account so they can access their student’s report cards.
If you have not created a PowerSchool account for your child please follow the instructions attached below or call the office at 403-777-8180 during office hours. Further details will be provided to parents on how and when they can access/view their child’s report card.

On May 28th we provided an online engagement survey to allow families to offer feedback, below we have provided a brief summary.
Learn and Share | CBE and school budget and school fees information and online engagement
We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we’ll be sharing information about the CBE budget and how we develop our own school budget and establish school fees for some services and activities through an upcoming online engagement opportunity.
During the online engagement opportunity, you had the opportunity to:
Learn
Where funding for the CBE comes from and how it is spent.
About the Resource Allocation Method (RAM) used to fund schools.
How we estimate, then finalize, RAM for our school.
How we establish school fees for some activities and services.
Participate .
Share your perspectives on school budget and school fees

2020/2021 School Year Update
The following message was sent out on school messenger:
Keeler | 2020-2021 School Year
Good Afternoon Keeler Families,
Due to the ongoing health risk of COVID-19, the Calgary Board of Education has made the decision to move ALL modified calendar schools and programs to the traditional calendar next year. This means our first scheduled day of classes for Keeler School will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020.
The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance, and we look forward to welcoming back our students as soon as it is safe to do so. More information about re-entry plans for the next school year will be provided later this summer.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through the details. Please see our school website for more information, including some frequently asked questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What will be the first day of school for the 2020-2021 school year?
- The scheduled first day of classes is Tuesday, September 1, 2020.
Why did the CBE decide to make the change to a traditional calendar?
- At this time we don’t know what the next school year will look like. We are working with Alberta Education on a re-entry plan but we won’t have details until sometime this summer. For the safety of our students and staff and to align with public health guidelines related to COVID-19, the decision was made to move all schools to a traditional calendar and start classes at the same time.
Will we still have an extended fall, winter and spring breaks?
- No, we will follow the shorter spring and winter breaks of the traditional calendar. There will also be no fall break. System-wide non-instructional days remain the same across the entire system.
Where can I find the dates for the 2020-2021 traditional calendar?
- Calendar information is posted on the CBE website. You can find next year’s calendar here: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/registration/calendars/Documents/2020-2021-Traditional-Calendar.pdf
Will there be a change to school hours, start and end times?
- The bell times for modified calendar schools will not change.
Will there be a change to yellow school bus transportation routes and schedules?
- CBE Transportation will create yellow school bus routes based on registrations received by June 14, 2020. Routes and schedules will be available later this summer.
Why not start the school year on the modified calendar with online learning and the students could return to in-person classes in September?
- At this time we do not know the re-entry plan for the next school year. Once we have determined how students will return to learning, all CBE students will follow the same calendar. We are not able to switch between different calendar schedules.
Will we be able to return to the modified calendar for the following school year (2021-2022)?
- The CBE is focusing on planning for the next school year and no longer-term decisions are being made at this time.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
